Hi all!

My name is Reyna Hawk and I’m the author of Angels & Arrows which was released in October of 2014.

First, I will tell you a little about me, then the book and finally I will move on into my writing style and the reason I chose to write Angels & Arrows.

I am a 47 yr. old mother of one grown son and grandmother to one beautiful little girl. I was born and (basically) raised in Cincinnati, Ohio.

I say basically because I have moved around quite a bit. I have lived in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Colorado, and spent a summer in Oklahoma.

I have a goofy and quirky side that I tend to show whether I know you or not.

Yes, I am one of those people that find humor sometimes at inappropriate times, I laugh at things that happened last week, and I will dance and sing to music no one else hears

That being said, I do know when to act appropriate and I am not as “weird” as I sound. I have always loved writing and the creating of new characters.

However, it wasn’t until 2011 that I actually began to put these thoughts, ideas, and stories onto paper to share with the world.

The synopsis for Angels & Arrows is the following:

Maria Ridge was born having gifts that allowed her to see and speak to the spirit world. As she aged these gifts became more of a curse than a blessing.

At 18 she escaped the taunting from not only the town, but also from her family, to embark on a journey that leads her to discover others like herself, secrets to her past, and the reality of her gifts. With the help of her new friend, Allie, Maria feels she finally found her place in this world.

The destined meeting of Ash awakens the two girls to the fine veil between this world and the next. Can Maria survive the haunting evil that threatens her?

This book is based on true paranormal events that are due to personal experiences or eyewitness accounts. The names of people and places have been changed strictly to enhance the story line.

“The reason I chose to tell this story is that I am personally connected to the story”

I am the character Maria Ridge. Now, for those of you who have read it or are about to let me explain some things first. While 95% of the events occurred to me, some happened to a friend or relative.

I simply interweaved all of those paranormal activities to create one story line based around one character. I do not want to give in “spoiler” information here therefore; I will simply say the final scene is actually a dream I had just prior to the writing of this book.

Each person that had an event included in the book was informed of the changes and was fine with their names not used in the book.

This is the first book I have written in the first person. It was a bit challenging because I generally write in the third person.

However, I believe by writing in the first person it adds more of the thrill and fear factor to it. I also tend to write in a very descriptive manner because I believe it pulls the reader in and helps to create that running movie in the head that so many enjoy.

I believe a good fiction book will do just that.

I write fiction, not how-to or self-help books. There needs to be some descriptions as to expressions, mannerisms, and motion in the book in order for the story to flow.
